NAY PYI TAW Mitchell Trubisky Jersey , Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Southeast Asian nations will continue to pursue economic integration "with urgency and resolution" after they achieve the goal of establishing an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Community by the end of 2015, according to a statement released here after an ASEAN summit on Wednesday.


"We welcomed the progress made in the implementation of the Roadmap for an ASEAN Community 2009-2015 and reiterated our commitment to expedite the remaining action lines by 2015," the leaders said in the chairman's statement.


The ASEAN Community is envisaged to be a region covering some 600 million people with a combined GDP of two trillion U.S. dollars.


An ASEAN coordinating council has been tasked to develop an ASEAN Community's post-2015 vision by the 27th ASEAN Summit in Malaysia next year. The statement said the central elements of the ASEAN Community's post-2015 vision has been developed, adding that they will form the basis for a comprehensive roadmap for community building.

The statement said the latest assessment shows ASEAN has implemented 82.1 percent of the 229 prioritized AEC deliverables identified for 2013. In addition, it has also implemented 52 of the key deliverables for 2014-2015 as of mid- August.
